NEFASTT Interview

  • USBMS interview with NEFASTT

Xastur:   When was the band formed and by who? Do any of the members have any past musical history before forming Nefastt?

Havoc Vulturus:   NEFASTT was conceived by GUILLOTINE and me (HAVOC VULTURUS) in 2003. We remained a two-piece for four years, then after several failed attempts with unmotivated or unefficient musicians we welcomed DAALBERITH from the late ANIMUS HERILIS. About our musical background Guillotine was one founding member of SENONS (RIP),  which I joined in 2001, and I also played in MALCUIDANT. SENONS was more pagan oriented.

Xastur:   Who chose the name Nefastt and why? What are each members duties within the band?

Havoc Vulturus:   The name came naturally to us as it matches the feeling we wanted to create (Néfaste is french for harmful). As for each one's duties, Guillotine (drums) handles the rhythms, tempos and structures and plays bass on the demo, while I (guitars) write the music and lyrics, and manage the contact side (internet, gigs...). Vocals are shared between both of us, depending on the mood of the tracks. Finally Daalberith (guitars, in the band since early 2009) harmonizes the riffs, takes on some of the lead guitar parts and takes part to the new songs.

Xastur:   For those who have not heard your music please describe your sound. Does your music contain any kind of message which you hope to put across to the listener?

Havoc Vulturus:   We simply describe our sound as "RAW". I think this word sums up pretty well our music and our state of mind. Now each one has to judge for himself, for me Black Metal is about individual thinking and feeling. We don't have any message to give, only Hate and glorification of Evil !

Xastur:   What are the main influences on both your music and your lyrics? Are there any bands who you would say have influenced you?

Havoc Vulturus:   We have obviously been marked by the 90' Norwegian scene, bands such as Mayhem, Burzum, Darthrone, Emperor, Immortal will always remain among our influences, willingly or not... We are also influenced by France's Black Legions, and have great respect for bands such as WATAIN, INQUISITION, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ARCHGOAT.

Xastur:   What draws you personally to the Black Metal genre? Is it the harshness of the music, or the grim and woeful atmospheres, or the dark subjects which B.M lyrics tend to deal with? Or maybe, for you, it is something else?

Havoc Vulturus:   It is a logical and obvious evolution, a relentless and powerful march towards darkness. Black Metal flows through our veins, our mind is fully dedicated to the glorification of evil, the appeal of the unsane and extreme.

Xastur:   France has a great wealth of excellent Black Metal from all styles of the genre. What are your thoughts on why France in particular is so consistent in producing quality B.M bands?

Havoc Vulturus:   We indeed had some great names in the past, and some special styles of music have been created in the french underground scene. Why France especially I couldn't really tell. Still there are lots of crappy bands, which bear no identity or integrity, it's each one's part to sort the true ones from the false. Good black metal gigs are rare here, and concert halls are often deserted. In spite of this, you can still find some really good formations not yet emerged from the shadows, in which I hold real hope and respect.

Xastur:   On to your current release, simply titled 'Nefastt'. Would you like to say a few words about it?

Havoc Vulturus:   It is a MCD with 4 titles composed between 2003 and 2005. We have had some difficulties during the recording process, then we sent the final mix to our friend from the german label BLACKMOON RECORDS. But after this the manufacturing company almost went off business and we had to wait another year for the CD to finally be available.

Xastur:   What is your recording process? Is it studio, home recording, or a mixture of both?

Havoc Vulturus:   For the MCD we recorded everything ourselves with the gear we had, only the mastering was done by a pro. Our next record will probably be done differently, the experience we earned these last years and the contacts we've made will help, but nothing is clear yet.

Xastur:   How have your live shows been received? Do you employ any stage props or 'theatrics' in your live set, as some B.M bands do?

Havoc Vulturus:   For now we only have played two shows as NEFASTT. Feedback was good despite some technical problems. Our scene show is as simple as possible, we don't bother about stage props, only music counts.

Xastur:    Do you have any goals you would like to achieve with the band? And what is next for Nefastt? Any plans for a full-length album or more shows?

Havoc Vulturus:   The schedule for 2010 is well-filled. First we are playing as openers for the NACHT DEN DRAUHENDEN SCHATTEN in february in Speyer, Germany. It's an excellent festival, we will play along with bands like OFFERMOD,UNANIMATED,CHRISTICIDE,MALHKEBRE.. Good people, good bands and plenty of alcohol ! Then in spring we will work on the next record, it will be a 5 or 6 track album.

Thank you to Havoc Vulturus for getting in touch and giving the chance for this interview.

INTERVIEW WITH XILENTIUM

USBMS INTERVIEW WITH XILENTIUM (AZ)

Thanks to NOOSE from U.S.B.M.S For Helping To Make This Interview Happen

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have not heard of you before?

We are Xilentium. We play music defined as Depressive Black Metal. Our music reflects from feelings, death and hatred. Xilentium is born from solitude.

2. What is going on with the band these days?

We are currently working on our 1st full length called "Sorrowful Journey In Depths Of Despair" It will contain the demo tracks (rerecorded) and 4-5 new tracks. We have some Rehearsal stuff out there, but the songs for the full length have not been shared yet. The album will be worth the wait.

3. I know this use to be a 1 man project and now there is a full band, what made you decide to get other people involved?

This band was never meant to be a one man band. In the beginning, I did all the instruments. It was hard. I devoted my life to the art of Xilentium. But in the end I lacked not having a real drummer. In 2007, I met Lord Demogorgon at a Wolves In The Throne Room Show Through A Mutual Friend. We both shared the same interest, and musical talents. So we started practicing and it was it, Xilentium was born.

4. Have you had the oppurtunity to do a live show yet, if so how would you describe your stage performance?

We do have live rituals. we had a Dvd release last year. But being loyal to the art of Xilentium we do not expose our rituals to other genres of music. Black Metal represents chaos and must remain in the darkness. Our stage performance is very dark and foggy with candles lit; very basic.

5. How would you describe your musical progress over the last couple of years and what direction do you see the music heading into during the future?

Now that we are a full band we have progressed enough to where we both are satisfied. Our demo has been reissued 3 times (100 Copies Each Issue) and has sold well. We are happy with the feedback.

6. How would you describe the lyrical content of the newer music?

Our lyrical content has always reflected from our Obscure Spirit of Desolate Blackness. Suffering is the only truth we all know. Born in a Void. our souls only exist in Somberness.

7. What are some bands or music styles that have influenced the current sound of the music, and what are you listening to nowadays?

Our music has always been influenced by many great artist. The LLN is the most inspiring to us. We also want to elaborate on how the Concilium bands have inspired us as well. But over all, we write music from within not others.

8. Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in the music?

Yes, in deed, as said, "Born from Solitude". This reflection has a goal to destroy the very weak infected world, and destroy the Christian "GOD". Ave

9. Where do you see black metal heading into now that it's 2010?

We do not care to see through the eyes of the weak. Black Metal is dead, but there is a underground that lies within. The trend side of it will always be shit, but in between it all there is some revolutionary stuff. Black Metal will never be the same as it once was. The internet is shit.

10. How would you describe the metal scene in Arizona?

Arizona sucks. We have no scene only a bunch of false supporters who never go to shows unless its for there own status and Image Gain. Fuck the AZ USBMS Promoters. They Are False and shit. They Say "USBMS" but they support all metal how gay! This town is full of gothic freaks and false "Satanist".

11. What are some interests that you have outside of music?

The only interest we have other then the obvious is to watch humanity suffer and self destruct. Chaos!

12. Any final words or thoughts?

May it be a warning to all the maggots who have misused Satanism: Your stay on earth is not much longer, you will return to your voided life you have always meant to be. We will reach the Summit of Darkness" with all our Brothers and Sisters. Ave Satanas

Interview with Nazarene Decomposing (Germany)

USBMS Interview with Nazarene Decomposing
Interviewer NOOSE(Daemon Black)

I would like to start of by thanking Nazarene Decomposing for taking the time for this interview.

(NOOSE) Lets start by asking where Nazarene Decomposing is from? And what was the driving force behind starting the band?

(ND) Nazarene Decomposing was founded in Passau/Bavaria/Germania, a fucking
sleepy town, nothing is ever gonna happen. The driving force behind starting the band
was to drink vast amounts of beer, to listen to true satanic Blackmetal and kick Pagan
and Gothic Shit heads ass!

(NOOSE) Can you introduce the band member’s names where they are from and how they became to play in Nazarene Decomposing?

(ND) Judas: Betrayal to Jesus. Is a synonym of the anti-Christian attitude.
Goatlord: The synonym for all evil against Christianity.
Sanguinarius: Is Latin for "bloodthirsty".thirsty for the blood of pagan/Gothic shit heads.
St. Napalm: No comment!

(NOOSE) For Black Metal fans from the U.S who have not heard your music before, how would you define your sound to them? And what can the audience expect from one of your live shows?

(ND) True and fast satanic Black metal which creates feelings like freezing to death in
a grim cold, stormy winter night. No fucking keyboards, no fucking female vocals!
The audience can expect a live show like angry, ass-fuck, which speaks to every sense
of your body!

(NOOSE) Where did the name Nazarene Decomposing come from? And what inspired the band to use this name? Does it have a significant meaning at all to the band?

(ND) The name Nazarene Decomposing was inspired by great Havohej’s song of the
same name, because the lyrics reflect our individual attitudes the best way!

(NOOSE) Who created the band logo and demo artwork? You also have a band website. Has this helped the band out by spreading your music on the Internet?

(ND) The logo and cover-artwork was created by Goatlord. The regular homepage
didn’t help us very much, but also existing "Myspace-site" was very useful for
propaganda!

(NOOSE) What do Nazarene Decomposing’s lyrics deal with? And what inspirations are used in creating Nazarene Decomposing music? Does your country’s heritage contribute at all in the creation of your music?

(ND) Lyrics against all Christianity, Anti-Mankind! Vast amounts of beer, pussies and
fucking Old school Black metal. 666!!! According to our slogan, a big fuck off to all
Gothic and Pagan Shit heads!
The pagan heritage at our country was fucked up by those stupid motherfuckers,
therefore we don’t want to take part in this fucking movement and praise the gods our
own way!

(NOOSE) Tell me more about the live performance you guys did at the Zeughaus? Did it help expand Nazarene Decomposing audience? Also shed some light on "The Arsenal". Is this a local club were u can here metal bands (Black, Death, Thrash)?

(ND) The gig at the Zeughaus was no concert in the true sense of the word, because there were only special people who were invited by the band members because of the release of the demo. Just a fucking CD-release-party! The Zeughaus is the only place to go in Passau to listen to Metal-concerts, but
only few times in the year!

(NOOSE) What is the Black Metal Scene like where you are from? Is their support for local metal acts? How is Black Metal perceived there?

(ND) Fucking dead!!! Just Pagan and Gothic Shit heads! No support, fuck ANTIFA!!!

(NOOSE) I want to ask about the recording sessions. You state that they were created in a "rehearsal room on two stormy winter nights in December". Did this particular setting contribute to raw and blasphemous sound you have in your songs?

(ND) The true story: 5 (Ancient Blasphemic Tyrant didn’t participated in the recording)
drunk guys, 50 liters of beer, 5 bottles of spirits in the rehearsal room of the band and
snow as high as man! So in special way this conditions contributed to this raw and
blasphemous sound!

(NOOSE) "A big fuck off to all Gothic and pagan shit heads! " Is what’s stated in the heading on your profile? Explain to me more of your views on this matter? Do you feel that Gothic and Paganism take away the authenticity of the Black Metal scene, which has always been about WAR, DESTRUCTION, and SATAN?

(ND) Pagan and Gothic movement infiltrated the spirit of satanic Black metal and led
it to fucking gay-girlie-sound! Those movement and its attitudes don’t belong to our
traditional views how Black metal has to sound like! And therefore we want to bring
back the true Black metal-spirit of War, Destruction and Satan!

(NOOSE) I see that Nazarene Decomposing has had a pretty solid line up in its existence. Aside from the additions of Goatlord, Judas and the release of Ancient Blasphemic Tyrant, the band has stayed with the same members. What contributed to these decisions? And has this helped Nazarene Decomposing focus more on creating the music rather then spending wasteful time searching for members?

(ND) The actual instrumentation is perfect! Every member plays a part in the songwriting and created by his own special influence the sound of Nazarene Decomposing!

(NOOSE) Explain what the tracks "Demonic Night’ and "Honourful Times" are about?

(ND) Demonic Night (first song): It’s the night were we have risen from our graves to
spread the word of Satan the first time!
Honourfull times: Praising the spirit of the old veins of Blackmetal, of Nihilism,
Satan and thirst for blood!

(NOOSE) Are there any other releases besides the Nazarene Decomposing demo? And are there new releases planned for the future?

(ND) There are no other releases existing except the "ND-Demo".
A tape release with songs "Melodic way" which don’t fit to our previous release,
but we found worthy to record will be released soon (self produced).
A (Split) EP with well known brutal sound like the first recording is going to be
released in the future.

(NOOSE) Is the band currently looking for a label to release your music? Also have any labels shown interest in the band thus far? How do you feel about this subject? Is Nazarene Decomposing something that will stay strictly underground? Or would the band sign to a big label to gain a wider audience?

(ND) ND is currently not looking for a label, but if someone is interested one can
contact us at "nazarene-decomposing@gmx.de" No big, commercial labels wanted! Forever underground!

(NOOSE) Before we finish up, is there any thing else you would like to address about Nazarene Decomposing and its future?

(ND) Keep looking on our website for new info!

(NOOSE) Thank you for the interview. This was a great opportunity to learn more about Nazarene Decomposing.

INTERVIEW WITH SVARTTJERN (Norway)

USBMS Interview with SVARTTJERN
Done by Lady Nott

Lady Nott and the United StatesBlack Metal Sect, would like to thank

HansFyrste and Svarttjern for responding to this interview

1. Can you first tell me, what Svarttjern means, and what its significance is?

The name Svarttjern is near to impossible to explain in any other language than Norwegian. ’Svart’ is black, but the hard word is ’Tjern’. I cold just say that it is a Norwegian name for pond (pond of water) but the old Norwegian word for it has much more mystical references to it, and to be honest, sounds ridicules in any other language. We got the name from a old oil painting of a place in the forest called Svarttjern by the Norwegian painter August Cappelen.

2. What can you tell me about your debut album, "Misanthropic Path of Madness"?

Misanthropic Path of Madness represents fully Svarttjern’s chaotic era that we have grown in to as a band. You can her from the demos that we have stretched very wide over the black metal music style, and pulled in a lot of thrash parts over the years. Our debut album gathers everything we have done and ties the strings in a way that we create our own sound. The album is a wall of sound, and turned out extremely aggressive in all ways. This was our goal. One needs to listen to the album more than once to really ’get it’ in a way, because it holds so many aspects around it. And for those that say it is unoriginal, you diffidently have to sit down with some headphones and listen to it while sharpening your senses.

3. I know many people are curious about what the black metal scene is like in Oslo, Norway Is it thriving?

Well, it’s hard to say since the scene has got so big in many ways, and so many people that take ’part’ in it has nothing to do with it. Svarttjern has always been a independent band, and we have chosen in many ways to have a certain distance to the scene because of all the idiots in-between. But of course there are the truly dedicated guys that still keeps the scene alive in the ways it should be. And thanks to that there are still some mind-blowing concerts and projects going on in Oslo.Is it thriving? Well yes, as long as the fucking metal hippies don’t interfere. Bands are growing and strong bonds are still made, and I would say that Mr. Nattefrost holds allot of the honor for that fact. He proves that with independence one can go the furthest, and that is why he has became a good friend of the band in many ways. Fuck the ass-licking everybody is doing these days!

4. What are your feelings on the cultural shift of black metal from Scandinavia to the United States?

To be honest we don’t care.. A black metal band from ..Norway.. can sound just as good as one from the US or Sweden. It’s all about finding your own sound and spirit, and that will prove if one has something going or not.

5. What other bands have you played with, and what is a typical live show like?

The last years we have played with bands like Taake, Nattefrost, Koldbrann and Bombers, and that were great opportunities for us to reach out to more people. All the gigs have been very good, both performance and musical wise. The gigs are always extreme, ugly and brutal, that’s why we enjoy playing with these bans that have the same intentions as us.

 6. What are the general feelings that Norwegians have towards black metal?

Depends on where you are in Norway In the bigger cities it is often respected as contribution to the culture and so on, but in smaller places black metal is still like it was in the late eighties and early nineties. One of the shows we had with Taake in a very small christian town in the middle of what we in Norway call ’the bible belt’, the organizer received mail threats from the towns people saying that they would stop this satanic concert with violence if the didn’t cancel it. We didn’t care, brought in extra security and both bands played. So all in all it depends on where you are in Norway.

7. Are the visual aspects of your live performance an important part of your set, and if so, why?

In some ways yes, but of course the music is the most important thing. For my sake I always enjoy having dead animals with me in some way on stage. Around my neck, hanging from the roof or in my pants, either way it gives me something unique. We want our shows to be ugly and dark, but there is a fine line we don’t want to cross over to when things looks stupid. We want people to hurt inside when they se us live, and one time we got a girl to throw up, and another to be escorted out by security for crying and almost collapsing. Good times.

8. Do your lyrics portray your personal feelings, if so, in what ways?

Yes. Pure passionate misanthropic philosophy. Codes and mazes to reach down to peoples sub consciousness. Humans today are weaker and softer than ever before, and renouncing their true nature. My lyrics are close to impossible to understand for most people, because even the simplest sentence has a much deeper philosophical meaning that builds the underlying structure and codes. My own numerology and codes hides my true paths in life from the slaves.

9. Do you have plans to go on tour? If so,where?

For now we only have two gigs booked, Netherlands in March and Germany in August. We have talked to some bands about touring, but to early to say anything more about it. But we are open for suggestions, and really want to tour.

10. What can we expect from Svarttjern in the future?

You can expect some great gigs with some great bands, and of course more albums. Svarttjern will always represent the honest independent black metal, and prove that by being honest, passionate and hard working, one will get the most out of this art.

INTERVIEW WITH NECRO MORPHOSIS

Lady Nott and The United States Black Metal Sect would like to thank Carnage and Shitstorm of Nekro Morphosis for taking the time to respond to this interview
                                         .... ........................................................................
                       l_16cdc39afbb84bf580c5d1f3915e132f.jpg picture by Rottenroses23
1.) Can you give me a brief history of Nekro Morphosis?
Carnage: It started around the year 2000 as a solo project of mine, mainly because I didn't know anyone else at the time that was into extreme metal. It remained a solo project until late 2007 when the first full lineup came together. There have been lineup issues ever since late 2008, we're now on our 2nd drummer (Guldrelokk) and 3rd bassist (Shitstorm) but I really think this curse is finally over, this is the strongest and most talented lineup we've ever had. I should probably also mention releases. In 2008 we released our first demo cd. Early 2009 we released a mp3 download only rehearsal album with the original lineup titled "The Dead Year". In mid-2009 we released our first full length titled "Chaosatanica". In October of 2009 we released a split cd with fellow washington black metal band Drakul titled "Split From the Clit". We had a limited to 25 hand-numbered copies live cd that came out early 2010 called "Seattle Fistfuck Massacre". Then in 2010 we recorded a demo of one song for our upcoming album, threw a couple songs from the split on there and gave them away for free at our shows.
2.) How did you come up with the name Nekro Morphosis and what does it mean?
Carnage: I came up with that name back in high school, I really don't remember exactly how but basically it means what the two words mean just thrown together, changing into the dead, a zombie type thing.
                l_4695676e1ff24f3dba9071b638857325.jpg picture by Rottenroses23        ........
3.) Would you say that the Washington metal scene is thriving?
Carnage: Oh yeah! There are a lot of great bands and amazing talent here, there are people that have been at it for 20 years without stopping and there's also a ton of fresh new bands popping up. Some of my personal favorite locals are: Ceremonial Castings, Scorched-Earth, Inquisition, Drawn And Quartered, Skinwalker, Skelator, Phlegethon (our bassists other band), Sol Negro, Drakul, Slutvomit, Tasty Gore, Shaded Enmity, Gravenloch & Sacrament Ov Impurity. There's almost always at least one good show every week either national or local, so I can't complain much.

4.) Who designs your cover art and logo? What significance does it have?
Carnage: My friend Chris Tabor from Digital Defiant Studios did our logo, we were just chatting online one day and he kept sending me updates about every 3 minutes or so while working on our logo then all of a sudden he said "ok this is it!" and sent the final one and I was just immediately blown away.
 l_d68ea601d7ab45e8b5927c087f782c76.jpg picture by Rottenroses23
5.) Does your music reflect your own ideologies? In what ways?
Carnage: Of course! Otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. To me it reflects my disgust with religion, and portrays a very aggressive and evil feeling.
Shitstorm: No, I like vikings.
6.) Where do you draw inspiration from for your lyrics?
Carnage: I would say just life experiences, sometimes I'll wander out in the middle of the night to a graveyard, sometimes just sit by the water and stare, I think mainly solitude and nature is what mainly inspires me to write lyrics.
Shitstorm: The riffs, or just thinking of a badass lyric and creating an entire story off of that.
7.) What other bands have you performed with, and what is a typical live show like?
Carnage: I personally haven't been in any other bands that are really worth mentioning but our bass player is also in Phlegethon and our drummer is in Unhaulted Genocide, Blood Etchings & Incrypted. Our typical live show almost always consists of my mic stand which has bullets, chains and nails welded on it, our 4 foot inverted cross wrapped in barbed wire and just a lot of raw energy. You can check out some live videos here: http://www.youtube.com/nekromorphosis
Shitstorm: Like Carnage said, I'm in phlegethon right now, but my first band was Die By Day, then i was in Wretched Funeral for a stint, and when i was in LA i was in a band called Sonic Turd... oops, I mean Sonic Terror. Live, I'm just a whirlwind of hair.
            l_0df4a8f822d3445e8336f0df767facd0.jpg picture by Rottenroses23

8.) Do you believe true black metal only exists in the countries where it originated from?
Carnage: No I don't, although I give them massive respect for creating it, I don't think it's limited to just those countries. I've heard bands from other countries that do it even better!
Shitstorm: No. to say that is bull shit in my opinion. I don't understand why that only happens in Black Metal either, you never hear about death metal bands not being considered true cause they're not from florida, or Heavy Metal bands not being considered true cause they aren't from England. Elitist thinking like that only divides the genre. Then bands that are awesome, but not true, end up not getting the respect they deserve.
9.) What are your thoughts on the Black Metal scene as a whole in the United States?
Carnage: I think it's pretty good, there's a ton of US black metal bands that I love, although I think from what I've seen it's just little pockets of scenes spread out, I think most of the US black metal bands are either unable to tour or can't afford to, which keeps a lot of them just local and underground. Overall though I think the US has a great black metal scene.
Shitstorm: Agreed, it is very underground right now, the only US black metal band i can think of that has made it some what big is Lightning Swords of Death, but there are many more US Black Metal bands that deserve what they have been bestowed with.
10.) What can listeners be expecting from Nekro Morphosis in the near future?
Carnage: We're currently finishing up the writing for our next album that will be titled "The Death of Morality" that should be released sometime in early 2011, this one is going to blow away everything we've done before! We're also throwing around ideas for a more intense stage show. Also there are plans for at least a west coast tour next summer. Thanks for the interview! Support the underground!

BISHOP OF HEXEN INTERVIEW

Lady Nott and the United States Black Metal Sect would like to thank Bishop of Hexen and their vocalist Lord Koder for taking the time to respond to this interview.

Lord Koder: Bishop of Hexen" was formed in late 1994 early 1995. After a few line-up changes, the band started working on its material, in a more intensive and professional direction  form. In the beginning of December 1995, "Bishop of Hexen" entered the studios to record its debut demo tape: "Ancient Hymns of Legends Lore", it saw light in the breaking of the New Year, at January 1996. The demo tape got extremely good response from the world wide underground metal scene, and was completely sold out at 450 copies. Numerous record labels where interested in signing the band for a record deal and finally "Bishop of Hexen" signed with "Hammer Heart productions" for its first album. In July 1996 the band entered the studios once again and released its full length album masterpiece in April 1997, entitled: "Archives of an Enchanted Philosophy", presenting 8 tracks of the most emotional atmosphere  melodic black-metal art ever released.

In 2005 after a few years of industrial silence the band released a promo intended for distribution amongst record labels entitled: “unveil the curtain of sanity” . In The following year (2006)”the nightmarish compositions” -  the band`s third full length album was released and yet again won extremely good  response in the world wide metal scene .The album was chosen by many mag. Editors of one of the promising albums of that year. The success of the album and its quality was noticed by the video games colossus “electronic arts” which chose to include two songs from “nightmarish” along with many other top league artists in the famous playstation game. “brutal legend” .Currently BOH are working on a new concept album.
(so much for the brief history… hehe )

2.) How did you come up with the name Bishop of Hexen and what does it mean?

Lord Koder: "Bishop of Hexen" has based all of its work thus far, both musically  lyrically, according to an ancient legendary concept, which is, in oppose to countless other concepts used by metal bands, an original one which was written by the band itself. the legends` theme portraits the journey of the main character from being a simple peasant to Becoming the bishop of hexen.

3.) What is the metal scene like in Israel? Do you face any difficulties in being able to distribute your music?

Lord Koder: Actually, the black metal scene in Israel has existed from the very early days of the global black metal .never the less it is still very small in comparison to the hardcore or death metal one. This is a small but very bustling BM scene. We do not face any difficulties in distributing our music Israeli society has it all and heard it all And like any other modern country in the world – the mainstream audiences are too busy watching stupid realty shows and are not aware of anything outside their bubble. And in any case most of our fans are outside Israel.

4.) What is the general opinion of black metal in Israel?

Lord Koder: I think the above answer sums it pretty well. There`s is no general opinion about BM in Israel .

5.) Tell me about your album, “ The Nightmarish Compositions”

Lord Koder. The “The Nightmarish Compositions” was a result of a “modernization” of BOH old material actually . This was something that the band wanted to record a long time ago but didn’t get the chance due to various reasons. It was recorded in Slovenia and produced by Dali starnitsa from DBstudios – and the result is clearly professional yet intriguing. On the conceptual level of the album I shall elaborate in the next answer.

6.) What if any, are your beliefs expressed through your lyrics? What message are you trying to convey to the listener?

Lord Koder: I think “The nightmarish compositions” album is a good example for the agenda we try to convey to the listener throughout all of BOH`s material .  This album deals with the psychological and philosophical strife that men kind as a whole faces in our mundane existence.  In ‘nightmarish” the theme is set in a different angle than the “legendry” one  We used before. And has shifted towards our interpretation of ancient scripts - including the bible. You see, being Israelis which are able to read the ancient scripts In their original language and form, we have a totally different take on the bible. Whereas the most of the Christian world perceives it to be benevolent and kind we (BOH members) see in it a lot of black witchery and find in it a lot of satanic motifs.
(some of our lyrics are a direct interpretation of the bibles chapters).

7.) What other bands have you performed with, and what is a typical live show like?

Lord Koder: BOH has never intended to perform live . there are  a lot of reasons for this – we prefer People listening to our music on an intimate surroundings , Thus the material was never built intended for  live concerts. Maybe in the future – we shall see…

8.) Do you use live orchestration?

Lord Koder: We did partly , in the next album we intend to add more .This was always a growing trend in the genre – using orchestras and classical instruments. If there is a musical justification we will use it but it`s not a “goal” for us. We prefer using other stuff!

9.) Do you have plans to tour? If so, where?

Lord Koder: Not at the moment – generally since we live in a remote place outside Europe the cost of such an Endeavour is huge and no one picked up the tab so far …maybe you can convince our label? Hehe…

10.) What can listeners be expecting from Bishop of Hexen in the near future?

Lord Koder: We are currently working on a concept album which will totally cinematic and draped in dark atmosphere. Artistically speaking We aim to surpass “The nightmarish compositions” achievements and to create A totally new and exciting experience for BOH fans and listeners throughout the scene.
